Utility Deposits
View the list of information regarding residential, commercial, and temporary deposits. Also learn about when no deposit is required and deposit reinstatements.

Residential Deposits
Utility deposits are required at the time of service.
  • $75 - With letter of credit* or with current or past account in good standing
  • $150 - Without letter of credit or if current account has more than two late payments in a two year period
  • $300 - Left owing on a past account (past account has to be paid)
*Letter of credit is a prior payment history from a similar utility company.

Commercial Deposits
  • $100 - With letter of credit or with current or past account in good standing
  • Two months estimated average bill – Without letter of credit or if current or past account is not in good standing

Temporary Deposits
  • $35 - With letter of credit or with current or past account in good standing
  • $70 - Without letter of credit or without current or past account in good standing

No Deposit Required
  • The customer has had a deposit refunded for good payment history
  • Has not been delinquent or late more than two times in the past two years
  • The customer has never had their utilities discontinued for nonpayment

Reinstatement of Deposit

A customer who has not been required to put up a deposit with the city or has had a deposit refunded may be required to put a new deposit up in the event that their payment record becomes unsatisfactory.

Deposit Refund Policy
All permanent deposits shall be held for a period of two years. After two years, the customer shall be eligible for a full refund of their deposit provided the customer:
  • Has not been late or delinquent in the payment of their utility bill(s) more than two times in the two years
  • Has not entered into a deferred payment plan with the city in the two years
  • Has never had their utilities cut off for nonpayment
